How Was Breaking Benjamin Formed
The band was formed in 1999 by Benjamin Burnley and Jeremy Hummel. The two later lined up other artist to be part of the band.
While Burnley was the lead singer of the band, Hummel played drums. The original lineup of the band was made of Aaron Fink, and Mark Klepaski alongside Burnley and Hummel.
They were together for some years before the band went on hiatus. The original lineup released tgwo albums, Saturate and We Are Not Alone.
Szeliga replaced Hummel and with him, the band released Phobia and Dear Agony.

1. How Breaking Benjamin Came About Its Name
Benjamin Burnley broke a microphone while singing in a previous band. ‘Thanks to Benjamin for breaking my fucking mic’ exclaimed its owner.
From this experience, Benjamin got the moniker for hiks band. Though he sang for Breaking Benjamin, a 1998 band before forming the present lineup, it was not the same band as the one formed in 1999.
Aaron was part of the previous band but the band broke up after Burnley moved to California.
Burnley had promotional stickers with the name of Breaking Benjamin and decided to maintain the name with Paln 9. Besides, he returned to California with Hummel the drummer.
The new band reclaimed the Breaking Benjamin name.
2. Benjamin Burnley’s Illness
In 2010, while on the Dark Horse Tour of the band, Burnley fell sick. Since he was unable to support the band, it went on hiatus.
Rumors surface to the effect that the band had broken up. Burnley’s statement did not affirm the rumors. He stated that the band had not broken up.
3. Benjamin Burnley Fires Bandmates Through Email
The 2010 hiatus showed that there were cracks in the band’s walls. When Hollywood Records made the band produce master recordings for them, the remaining band members went ahead with the request.
Fink and Klepaski were offered $100,000 for the release of a new version of the hit song Blow Away. Burnley felt they did it behind his back. He fired the two via email and also demanded a compensation fee of $250 000.

Following the law suit against his former band mates, Burnley continued using the name.
After settling their dispute in arbitration, Szeliga left the band. Szeliga left three days after Burnley’s announcement. He claimed it was due to creative differences that he was leaving.

The band has a logo with a Celtic knot design. The knots are made from four intertwining ‘B’s”.
Members of the band have tattoos of the logo on different parts of their bodies. Fink, Burnley, klepaski have tattoos of it on their left wrist while Szeliga has it on his right wrist.
6. Who Are Its current Members
The band formed a new lineup with only Burnley as an original member. In 2014, the new lineup became active.
Its members are Burnley, Jasen Rauch, Keith Wallen, Aaron Bruch, and Saun Foist. While the band suffered the lack of backing vocals during performance, they chose their next lineup based on ability of singers.
Bruch and Wallen provide backup on stage. Rauch plays the third guitar. Foist uses the Roland V-kit drums to to make their sounds unique during live performance.
