Ancelotti confirms Real’s need to sign a new no. 9, amid Benzema’s age becoming a concern for the manager
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly showed his concerns about Benzema‘s age as he urges that the club needs to sign a new No. 9 for the future. Ancelotti has lauded Rodrygo and Marco Asensio for always showing readiness to step in the shoes of veteran striker Karim Benzema.
The Italian made it clear that Los Blancos are in search of a top striker to replace Benzema. He has insisted that Benzema can’t keep operating as the team’s only center-forward.
Real Madrid has two pure strikers in the team, Benzema and Mariano Diaz. Although Diaz has failed to win the confidence of Carlo. He has also failed to find the back of the net this season in nine games.
Talking about his concerns for a new no. 9, Carlo said, “I say this because Karim Benzema has an age. And even though, of course, he’s doing very well. We never had any kind of problem with that. The project for the future of the club is to sign a 9, because Karim is the age he is. It’s true that Karim has had his ups and downs. But Rodrygo has progressed, Asensio has progressed.”
