With one of the worst flu seasons in decades, more Americans are running to the stores for orange juice. But what if we told you Idaho potatoes could give you almost the same benefits as the citrus fruit?

Spuds? Seriously?

Yes! According to the Idaho Potato Commission, potatoes do in fact have almost as much Vitamin C as oranges!

And taters aren't the only items in the produce aisle you'll find that are high in asorbic acid. Check it out! Do you like red peppers? Well, a cup of those will give you about three times the amount of Vitamin C than oranges! Papaya and kiwi are great too! Kewl!

According to the Mayo Clinic, adults should have about 65 to 90 mg of Vitamin C a day, with a limit of 2,000 mg in a day. One potato has about 42 mg, and one orange has about 50 mg.

It is worth mentioning though, Vitamin C is not proven to shorten or prevent a cold/ the flu.
