BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — New information is coming out in the unfolding story of Laura Boulton, a former Boise School District teacher who leveled accusations at the District of failing to investigate properly student claims of sexual abuse or misconduct. Last week we reported that Ms. Boulton is receiving $400,000 from the District in a settlement agreement, but new information shows there is more to that agreement.
During a news conference held by Ms. Boulton last September, she claimed the district had failed to follow up appropriately on or investigate mandatory reports she had helped students file alleging sexual abuse in the District.
Before Ms. Boulton's planned news conference the Boise School District released a statementstating in part that she had been placed on administrative leave for "undermining colleagues and academic programs, spreading misinformation to students and staff, manipulating students, harassing colleagues, and preying upon vulnerable youth."
Last week CBS2 broke the news that Ms. Boulton had agreed to a settlement with the Boise School District for $400,000. CBS2 received that agreement as part of a records request with the District, though three sections of the agreement were entirely redacted. An updated copy has now revealed what was contained in one of those redacted sections.
The Boise School District has agreed to make Ms. Boulton part of an "Executive level committee at the Boise School District whose purpose will be to organize and provide training to teachers on the appropriate boundaries in relationships between students and staff."
Ms. Boulton says that she "Looks forward to working cooperatively with the Boise School District moving forward."
