(Video) Furious DK Metcalf loses his cool and starts swinging his helmet during heated alterca

July 2024 · 3 minute read

DK Metcalf is one of the most imposing wide receivers in the NFL. Standing over 6 foot 4, the Seattle Seahawks wideout can very well start as a tight end muscling through defenses.

Yet he does that even without the need to track back and do the dogged dirty work. However, his temper gets the better of him sometimes, as it did during Wednesday’s team practice.

Reports flared out from the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton about several skirmishes between Seahawks players. One of them involved DK Metcalf, who, using a helmet, hit cornerback Tre Brown.

Funny enough, the entire incident was caught on Good Morning Football live telecast from the Seahawks camp.

As per the Athletic, the altercation was a result of Brown punching second-year receiver Jake Bobo in the face. Evidently, Metcalf did not land a hit on Brown; rather, he narrowly missed the former 4th-round pick and struck safety K’Von Wallace on his helmet.

Head coach Mike Macdonald wants the in-team fighting like DK Metcalf’s outburst to stop

Mike Macdonald has a lot on his plate. After veteran Pete Carroll stepped down as the head coach of the Seahawks, they appointed the 37-year-old, who served as the Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator in 2023.

Although Wire Today ranked Macdonald as the 10th worst head coach going into the new season, mostly because this is his first-ever gig as the main honcho, he kept a tight leash on his players until things started going haywire at the camp.

USA Today (Touchdown Wire) ranks the Top 10 worst head coaches in the NFL:

1) #Saints Dennis Allen
2) #Bears Matt Eberflus
3) #Patriots Jerod Mayo
4) #Giants Brian Daboll
5) #Jets Robert Saleh
6) #Titans Brian Callahan
7) #Buccaneers Todd Bowles
8) #Raiders Antonio Pierce

Metcalf’s anger issues are a problem that he needs to sort out because he is the #1 receiver and 2024 is his contract year. The two-time Pro Bowler is also a leader in the locker room, and Macdonald wants to see him take charge, which he did after practice.

We’re right on the line right now. I think the guys [Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Tyler Lockett] realize that. Hey, let’s take care of one another. Definitely don’t want people fighting out here, especially against our own teammates. DK gave a great message at the end of practice, just kind of putting everything in perspective. The guys finished it out the right way. So, proud of our guys.

The Seahawks have the 15th toughest schedule in 2024. They will play three pre-season games starting on August 10 and then kick off their regular-season campaign by welcoming the Denver Broncos.
